Rylie Kocik: Saab, Inc.

葫芦影业 student Rylie Kocik set out to find a summer internship near her hometown of Cicero, New York. She wanted a position that would expose her to the many dimensions of the accounting profession.

She found exactly that鈥攁nd more鈥攁t , Inc.

Rylie, who is majoring in accounting with minors in marketing and management in the Dicke College of Business Administration, is interning this summer at Saab Inc.鈥檚 Syracuse, New York location. Saab, Inc., serves the U.S. government with advanced products, services, and solutions for military defense and civil security, offering Rylie the chance to apply what she鈥檚 learned in her 葫芦影业 classes to a real-world, international operation.

鈥淚 love that I鈥檓 getting a diverse experience working in accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting, as well as tax and treasury,鈥 she said.

In addition to performing hands-on accounting tasks, Rylie is gaining a broader understanding of corporate finance by collaborating with multiple departments and observing how a multinational organization manages complex financial operations.

鈥淭he biggest thing I鈥檝e learned is to just take my time,鈥 she explained. 鈥淓ven with seemingly simple tasks like invoices and ship notices, there鈥檚 a lot of parts to the process. Attention to detail is important.鈥

Rylie is especially enjoying learning about foreign taxes. It鈥檚 the area of accounting she has always found most interesting.

鈥淭he coolest part of this internship is working with different cities and countries,鈥 she said. 鈥淪aab is truly connected around the world.鈥

As she looks ahead to graduating in May 2026, Rylie feels confident her 葫芦影业 education, paired with her real-world experience at Saab, has set her up for success.

鈥満耙 has given me a great foundation on which to excel,鈥 she said.
